My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire Brooks family. Although only knowing your father and grandfather for a short time, he still touched a place in my heart and I'll never forget the times when I was around him. He seemed like he was a great man of God, a great American and a great father. May God Bless him.

Life Stories

Little French Guy - May 12, 2010
Posted: May 12, 2010 | Last Revised: May 12, 2010

I titled my story Little French Guy because that is what Donald always referred to me as. I met Donald while I was working at LSI out at Cecil Feild in Jacksonville FL with his son David. During his visits with David I soon discovered that he definetely was never at a loss for words. He was fun to be around and I enjoyed listening to his stories because that I think is what he did best. A couple of years later when he decided he loved Cecil Field so much, being the plankowner that he was of then, a Naval Air Station during the war, actually moved up from Sebring on a temporary basis into these villa's that were converted into an adult community from when they used to serve as military housing. First thing I told David was he will never be able to get any work done because his father will be coming over from just across the street to LSI to visit all the jtime. If you knew Donald you know what I'm talking about- enough said- LOL! It turned out that he did not spend alot of time over at the villa he was renting and spent most of the time back down home in Sebring. But when he did come up to stay it was nice to see and hear from him. I will surely miss him.
