A.W. "Spizz" POLLARD, 84 OF Sebring, FL died Thursday November 29, 2012. He married Doris Waldron on Spetember 18, 1949. He was a proud member of the First Baptist Church, becoming a deacon at the early age of 25. He helped in the constituting of Whispering Pines Church. He was a member of the S.H.S of 1946, lettering in football, basketball, and baseball 4 years. He served 3 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and 33 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He, along with the Sebring Firemen was instrumental in placing the memorial of the Sebring Servicemen on Circle Park. He also researched and wrote the book "Hendricks Field...A Look Back." He is survived by a loving family wife, Doris; son, Roy (Lori) Pollard Sebring; daughters, "DeDe" (Jim) Mims, Louisville, Ky.; Becky Hernandez, Ocoee, FL and Angie (John R.) Carter, Greenville, TN; Sisters, Mignon Kagy, Ft. Worth, TX and Lillian Fioni, Jacksonville, FL; and brother, Robert G. (Faye) of Sebrnig; Grandchildren, Rina, Nick and Hugo Hernandez Jr., Ocoee, FL; Sgt. FC Derek (Lauren) Pollard, Stuttgart, Germany; Courtney Pollard of Sebring, FL; Carmen (Chris) Noel, Nashville, TN; Caitlin Mims, Louisville, Ky; John Carter and Whitney Carter, Greenville, TN; Great grandchildren, Julia and James Pollard Struttgart, Germany. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will recieve friends, 3-5 Sunday at Morris Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Morris Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jack White officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetary. Memorials are requested to First Baptist Church Library Fund.
