Benjamin James McGee

Benjamin James McGee passed away on June 27, 2023, at the age of 69 after a long battle with cancer. He was kind, gentle, funny, smart, and loved by all who knew him.

Ben was born in Fort Myers, Florida, and later moved to Belle Glade and then Orlando for high school and college. Over the last 18 years, he lived in Mobile, Alabama, where he had numerous beloved friends and colleagues, and finally Sebring, Florida, to be near his family.

Ben loved to hunt, fish, be outdoors, read history, and see his grandkids. He never met a stranger, and he made everyone feel at ease when he was around. Most importantly, he trusted in Christ for salvation and eternal life at a young age.

Ben is survived by his two sons Matt (Jennifer) and Jake, mother Frances, sister Ruth Richter (Doug), brother Paul, sister Linda Davoll (Jay), grandsons Judson and Elijah, granddaughter Anna, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and friends from around the country.

Ben will be honored in a celebration of life service on Monday, July 3 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Sebring. Visiting hours are from 9:30-11:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the International Mission Board or the tuition assistance program at The First Academy in Orlando in honor of Ben. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.
