Byron D. Stitzer, 89, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring, FL, surrounded by his cherished family. He was born on March 21, 1936, in Decatur, IN, and lived a life filled with passion and purpose.

Byron and his wife Madelene raised their family in Greenwood, IN where he was a dedicated car dealer. Bryon was a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Southport Blue Lodge.

He and Madelene moved to Highlands Ridge in 1996, finding joy fishing, playing golf, playing cards and as a member of Union Church. He also volunteered at the Avon Park Church Service Center and Highlands Regional Medical Center.

He cherished time spent with family and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and humor. He is survived by his loving wife Madelene; daughters Kim Reed (Dana Meeks) and Karen Wojtowicz (Paul); 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way in June).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 2PM at Union Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to: Union Church, 106 N. Butler Avenue, Avon Park, FL 33825.

Byron’s memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him.
