Carol Thurman Skipper

SKIPPER, CAROL THURMAN, 77 OF Lake Placid, FL went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2015. She was born in Coral Gables, FL, June 3, 1937 to Joe and Carolyn Thurman. From a very young age she developed a love for horses. When she married Jack Skipper in 1984 she continued her love of horses by training and riding Arabian horses in shows and won many awards. She was an avid horse woman and trained using the Parelli method. Carol enjoyed having her grandchildren visit the ranch and taught each of them to ride and care for horses. She worked alongside her husband, Jack for over 40 years as they ran the 61 Ranch. She was a devoted environmentalist, and steward of the land. Carol was also a dental hygienist for Dr. Janigan's dental practice in Lake Placid for many years and developed a close relationship with all of the staff in that practice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Skipper and her parents, Joe and Carolyn Thurman and stepsons, Steve Skipper and Steve Skipper. She leaves behind many beloved cousins including Joyce Thomas Allison, Louisville, KY, Jean Thurman Cubbins, Hodgenville, KY, Becky Bowling, Loisville, KY, Jan Anderson, Lakeland, FL; Stepson, Donald (Patricia) Skipper and stepdaughter-in-law, Beth Skipper, Sebring, FL; stepson, Lee (Barbara) Skipper, Peachtree City, GA; stepdaughter, Nancy (Howard) DeVane, Bokeelia, FL and step-daughter-in-law, Susan Skipper Brown, Little Rock, AR. Eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Carol was a loving and devoted wife to Jack for many years. She was a beloved member of the Skipper family and will be missed by all. Visitation 3:00 pm, Saturday with a funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm. At Morris Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Juliano, of First United Methodist Church officiating. A private family burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorials to The Wounded Warriors or Horses for the Handicapped.
