Christopher “Chris” F. Miller, Sr., 70, a native and lifelong resident of Sebring, passed away on Oct.
11 th , 2024. He was perceived as a gentle giant and trustworthy man with a great faith in God. He was a
loving husband, father, “papa,” and friend to many.
Chris was a dedicated Christian, family man, and hard worker. Most of his life, he was a member of
First Baptist Church of Sebring where his grandmother was a charter member. He was a self-
proclaimed “professional ditch digger,” but his family considered him a jack of all trades. He was the
owner of Sebring Ridge Utilities, a plant nursery, a land developer, and more.
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, dry humor, gardening, baking and
cooking, watching Fox News, traveling and spending time with his family. He was most humbled by
being voted the “most courteous” man in high school by his peers. His family shared that he had a
giving heart and was always wanting to take care of those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger E. and Frances Miller, and son Mark Purvis. He is
survived by his beloved wife, Julia “Pat” Miller, sons, Christopher (Moriah) Miller, Jr., and Joshua
(Anslee) Miller; daughter, Summer Miller; daughter-in-law, Kelly Purvis; brother, Roger Miller, Jr;
sisters, Karen (Joe) Berry and Dr. Valerie (Dean) Johnson; grandchildren, Marlin Miller, Maci Purvis,
Cali Purvis and Jett Purvis.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, Oct. 21 st , 5 pm, at First Baptist Church of
Sebring (200 E. Center Ave. Sebring, FL 33870; organized by Morris Funeral Chapel).
In lieu of flowers, the family has a special request dear to Chris’s heart. He was super passionate about
helping those in need and especially those dealing with cancer like himself. His wish before he passed
was to do something thoughtful for a very close family friend, Brittany Turner (age 34, stage 4 cancer).
Our family's wish is to help raise money for Brittany's cancer treatments and other costs associated. To
add to her health challenges, she recently also lost her home to the storm surges during the last two
hurricanes. This is just a little something to make her life easier during this difficult time. We hope you
find it in your heart to help. Anything is appreciated, big or small. Help us bring a little joy to such an
exceptional person in our hearts and community. Please visit https://gofund.me/c8deb9c6 to donate and
learn more about Brittany’s cancer journey.
