Dorothy Jane (Bartkowiak) Chrzan

CHRZAN, DOROTHY JANE (BARTKOWIAK), 91 of Sebring, FL slipped the bonds of her earthly home to spend eternity with her merciful Lord on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, 2011 after a long illness at Lake Placid Health Care, Lake Placid, FL. She was born in South Bend, IN to Stanley and Mary Bartkowiak (Deka) and was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Franklyn Leon (Jack) Chrzan, as well as several siblings; Bernice, Joseph, Edward, Harriet, Lucille, Eleanor, Theodore and Gertrude. She is survived by two sisters: Theresa Liwosz of Mishawaka, IN and Mary Catherine Andrezjewski, South Bend, IN and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her daughters: Jo Ann Walz (Norb), Sebring, FL and A. June Ziffrin, Indianapolis, IN as well as her grandchildren: Douglas A. Walz (Kaylene), Sherri Babcock, Jean Walz Griffin (John Timothy III), Thomas H. Ziffrin, Jr, Jackie L. Reynolds. Also surviving her death are her great-grandchildren: Bradley K. Walz, Blair M. Walz, Brandon J. Walz, John T. Griffin IV, E. Mitchell Griffin and Ryan Babcock and Jacob Reynolds. Dorothy moved to Fort Wayne, IN upon her marriage to Jack Chzran and later retired to their lake home outside of Angola, IN. She moved to Sebring after the death of her loving husband, Jack, and enjoyed many years with friends and family while living at The Bluffs of Sebring. She had the great gift of hospitality. Dorothy was a consummate homemaker and an avid walker. A burial Mass will be held at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Sebring on Thursday, May 12th at 10:00 am with Rev. Fr. J. Peter Sheehan, celebrant. Interment will be at Linderwood Cemetery, Ft. Wayne, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to St. Catherine Catholic School, 882 Bay St., Sebring, FL 33870 or Make It Count Foundation, 915 Mall Ring Road, Sebring, FL 33870. This foundation is for the benefit of orphaned children in Tanzania, Africa.
