Dorothy Jean Conrad

January 4, 1928 — August 13, 2024

Sebring

Dorothy Jean (Cobb) Conrad went to her heavenly home on August 13, 2024, following a brief illness. She was born January 4, 1928, the oldest of two daughters born to Charles and Vera Cobb in Sebring, Florida. The family lived on South Ridgewood Drive and Jean attended Sebring elementary and high schools. She graduated as valedictorian of her class of 44 seniors. She later attended Bob Jones University where she met and married Earl C. Conrad from Lyons, Ohio in 1949.

Jean and Earl served with The Evangelical Alliance Mission in India for 37 ½ years, having arrived there in February 1952. Jean learned the Marathi language along with her husband. They lived much of the time in villages, where she taught children’s and women’s Bible classes, along with having and caring for 4 children of her own. Later in their service, they moved to the city of Pune and worked with Word of Life Publications. There Jean became adept at reading book proofs in Marathi. She also wrote her own book of object lessons for Sunday School teachers. They retired in November 1989 and returned to Sebring where they were active in Covenant Presbyterian Church and drove for Meals on Wheels for 27 years.

She is survived by her children: Rebecca (Leroy) Nicholson, Robert (Jenny) Conrad, Deborah(Robert) Brooks, Rachel Conrad; 9 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
