Dr. William “Bill” Joseph Manint, Sr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. William Manint announces his passing after a brief hospitalization from a traumatic brain injury, on May 29, 2018, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 75 years. He will be lovingly remembered by Sandy, his wife of 50 years, and his two children, Laura (Nicholas) Bagnoli and William, Jr. (Kimberly). Bill will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, Maria, Monica, Isabella, Anthony and Gabriel, as well as by his sister, Carolyn (Kenneth) Toca. He was predeceased by his sister, Rose Rita (Stanley) Wilson and brother, Alfred Paul Manint, II.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Bill graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1960. After graduation, Bill went into the National Guard Reserves for three years while also attending college. He earned a business degree from Louisiana State University New Orleans in 1965. Shortly after marrying, Bill and Sandy moved to Orlando, Florida where he worked as a contract negotiator for the Department of Navy. In 1974, Bill furthered his education, attending Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating as Valedictorian in 1978. Upon graduation, the Manint family moved to Sebring, Florida where Bill opened his optometry practice in 1979, examining eyes until his retirement in 2003. After retiring, Bill enjoyed volunteering his time at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Sebring as a youth minister for five years, he also taught the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults for the past 11 years. His other hobbies included spending time with his grandchildren, riding motorcycles, photography and traveling.

Visitation hours are Friday, June 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Morris Funeral Chapel, 307 S. Commerce Avenue, Sebring, Florida.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 820 Hickory Street. Very Reverend José González, V.F. presiding.
 

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lake Placid.
