Janet Marie Riley peacefully went to be home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday morning, May 17, 2013, at Keniworth Care and Rehabilitation Center in Sebring, FL surrounded by members of her family. Janet was born in Bend, Oregon on March 31, 1933 to Christian Alfred and Karoline Marie Pedersen, who immigrated from Denmark in 1911 and homesteaded a farm in central Oregon. She delighted in supporting her soul mate as he advanced in his teaching career in Oregon and then went on to become a professor at Iowa State University. She was a loving, supportive wife and homemaker. Janet was a faithful servant of her Savior, involving herself in numerous Christian and community services. She loved teaching home economics to 4-H youth, and taught piano lessons. She led Good News clubs, helped in Awana clubs, and especially enjoyed mentoring international students through Bible studies. Janet was an accomplished clarinetist, and often played the piano or organ for church. She was proficient in the domestic arts, cooking, sewing, gardening and writing. Her gifts of hospitality and her spirit of generosity for the Lord's work were evident to all who knew her. Janet was also an independent Shaklee supervisor for 33 years. Janet particularly appreciated the special friendships she developed during the last 4 1/2 years at Maranatha Village in Sebring, Florida.
