Joseph Mark "Joe" Colangelo

Joseph Mark “Joe” Colangelo, 56, of Sebring, FL died on April 29, 2024 at his residence. Born July 2^nd, 1967 in Carlstadt, NJ, he grew up in Meriden, CT before moving to Sebring in 1979. Attended Sebring Middle School and graduated from Sebring High School in 1985. Attended South Florida Junior College in Avon Park. Joe was very proud to be an Eagle Scout with 3 Palms with Troop 863 Boy Scouts in Sebring. Worked with his father at Highlands Woodcraft for several years where he was a cabinet maker. Joe later bought the business, changed the name to Colangelo Woodworking and offered quality craftsmanship in both building and repairing furniture until 2023. Joe was a member of the Sebring Moose Lodge and the Knights of Columbus, as well as the Poker Club and the “Wire Benders” team of the Dart League. His greatest interest could be seen in his love for music. He was one of the founding members of the well-known local band, California Toe Jam.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carrie, mother Lucille, and his faithful fur-buddy Eddie. He leaves behind his son, Joseph; daughter, Olivia; father, Joe; brother, Matt (Dana); mother-in-law, Judy Nugent; loving companion, Mary Elliott and many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Morris Funeral Chapel Tuesday, May 7^th from 5-7 PM, and Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, May 8^th at 10 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 595 E. Main St., Avon Park, FL 33825. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to Boy Scout Troop 156, 202 Robert Britt St, Avon Park, FL 33825 or to the Our Lady of Grace Scholarship fund, 595 E.
