Marvin John Bennett, Jr. 64 years old passed away Monday, January 8 at Highlands Regional with his family by his side. John was born September 16th 1953 in Savannah GA. John is survived by his Wife Tina Bennett, mother Alene Jackson, daughter Gena Paugh, grandsons Braxton & Garrett Paugh, sisters Debra Bryant & Sandy Donnan, sons Daniel & Jake Marvin, daughter Aleesha Nevills, along with grandchildren, Jorgianah & Evangeline Marvin, and Jacob & Brooklyn Marvin. First and foremost John was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle and papa. He always made time for his kids and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to play games, help build toys, or teach them how to fish. A sub contract painter by trade, John would be the first to volunteer and lend a helping hand to those who needed him. He was very involved in the community serving at one time as a volunteer fighter, head of the teeball league, Boy scouts club, member of ABATE of FL, and an award winning member of Jaycees. He was an avid fisherman; belonging to several Highlands County bass clubs. There weren't too many things he loved more than being on or in the water. Whether it was fishing or surfing in his earlier years. John loved to open his home to anyone. "The more the merrier" he would say. Once you became friends with John you were always a friend. He will be missed but never forgotten by his family and those he touched throughout his life. Service will be held 3:30pm Saturday January 13th at Morris Funeral Chapel, 307 S. Commerce Ave., Sebring, FL 33870. Followed by a reception at Island view restaurant in Sun n Lakes golf club. 5223 Sun-n-Lake Blvd. Sebring, FL 32872.
