Marvin Thomas

Marvin L. Thomas, 78, of Sebring, FL (formerly of Fairmont, WV and Burton, WV) went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 27, 1942, a son of the late Ray Thomas and Nellie Thomas.

He is a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School and Fairmont State University. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, and received an honorable discharge. He then served the city of Fairmont, WV for several years as a professional firefighter. In subsequent years, he retired after a long career with the USPS.
Marvin enjoyed traveling, woodcarving, boating, and staying actively involved in his church. He had a servant's heart, always willing to lend a helping hand. He will always be remembered for his quick sense of humor, contageous smile, his ability to cheer you up on your worst day, the person everyone turned to for sound advice, and, most importantly, for his steadfast faith and love for the Lord.
Marvin is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Donnamae ("Donna") Thomas of Sebring, FL, as well as his children and stepchildren: Shelley Hyde and husband Robert of Fairmont, WV, Melissa Galluzzo and husband Guy of Uniontown, PA, Melvin Fair and wife Cari of Los Angeles, CA, Matthew Fair of O'Fallon, MO, and Michael Fair and wife Samantha of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet Regina ("Jean") Myers of Fairmont, WV, and one brother, Danny Thomas of Burton, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Thomas. He was also predeceased by three brothers: Lloyd Thomas, Robert Wise, and Victor Wise.
Marvin will always be dearly loved, desperately missed, and cherished in memory by his family and friends. To quote an excerpt from a tribute written by his eldest grandchild, "You, sir, were the epitome of 'one of a kind'."
In keeping with Marvin's wishes, he will be cremated.
