BLUMENTHAL, Maurice I., 93 died November 23, 2016. Born in Savannah, GA to Ruby and Elliott Blumenthal. He grew up in Miami, FL. He graduated from Miami Senior High School and attended the University of Miami until he was drafted into the Army in 1943. His Army unit was with SHAEF in Europe. He worked in his family business of Rental Properties in Coconut Grove in Miami. He retired and moved to Lake Placid, FL in 1977. He was a member of Temple Israel of Highlands County and American Legion Post #25. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Sarah Blumenthal; daughter, Linda Cantrell; son, Maurice Max Blumenthal and grandson, Christopher Dobbe. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Blumenthal; grandson, Chad Cantrell; step grandson, Phillip Dobbe (Ashley); step daughter, Deborah Steward; stepson, Daniel Steward; Great grandchildren, Emily Cantrell, Katelyn Cantrell; step great grandchildren, Jason Dobbe, Owen Dobbe, Liam Dobbe. A funeral service was held Friday, November 25, 2016 at Temple Israel of Highlands County. Service conducted by Cantor Riselle Bain. Burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park North on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 2PM. In lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made to Temple Israel, NuHope Senior Care or Habitat For Humanity. .
