SKIPPER, Robert Dink, 87, went to be with the Lord December 20, 2010 at his home in Sebring. Born December 31,1922 in Crewsville, Florida to Dink and Velva Skipper. Robert was a 5th generation Floridian. He was a welder by profession, belonging to the Welders and Pipe Fitters Union in West Palm for many years. During WWII Robert worked in the shipyards of Port Tampa, returning to Highlands County after the war were he was involved in the citrus and cattle business, continuing to work on many large construction projects in central Florida. In the early 1970's Robert ran for and was elected to the Highlands County Board of County Commissoners, serving a total of 16 years. Surviving is a brother, Roland (Carolyn) Skipper of Zolfo Springs, children Leta (Paul) Mathews of Ft. Meade, Wendell (Jana Sharp) Skipper of Sebring, Kelvin Skipper of Sebring, Caroline (Rick) Hanken of Sebring; grandchildren, Stephanie (Cash McClelland) Skipper, Kelvin D. Skipper, Angela (Sydney) Ivey, Robert Wayne Matthews; 3 great grandchildren and a large extended family. Visitation 5-7 pm, Thursday at Morris Funeral Chapel, 307 S. Commerce Ave, Sebring and 12 noon - 1 pm, Friday at Crewsville Baptist Church with a service to follow at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at Crewsville Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
