TEDSTONE, ROBERT BRUCE, 81 OF Sebring, FL passed away on March 6, 2017 at Bay Pines VAMC, Bay Pines, FL. Bob was born in Newton, MA, son of Lewis W. and Ethel M. (Larrabee) Tedstone. A graduate of Quincy State College, AA and retiring to Sebring, FL in 1984. A career veteran of the United States Army enlisted in Plymouth, MA, Jan. 1, 1953 and honorably discharged on Aug. 31, 1975. Master Sgt. Served for 22 years in the Military Intelligence Division, member of the NSA, Florida Security Agency. Most memorial moments stationed in Bahamas for two years during the bay of Pigs, stationed in the White House in 1962 when John F. Kennedy was assassinated, he was called to duty on that Sunday and allowed to return home the following Wednesday. He was awarded the following distinctions: numerous letters of commendation for his devotion to duty and superior performance, The Meritorious Service Medal and the Florida Veterans Award in 2014. Life member of the American Legion, Life member of the DAV; Past Commander and Life member of the Am Vets; Life member of the Florida Sheriff's Association; Twenty year member of FASAF Florida Association of Security Agents and their Families; Active member of the Sebring Chamber of Commerce. President, Treasurer, Secretary of the Sebring Lions Club, Life member of Florida Conklin Center. Lions International Melvin Jones Fellowship Recipient Leo Award. President's Appreciation Award. Bob was the intake specialist for the Sebring Lions eye glasses program. This service is extended to persons in need in the Sebring, FL area. Bob interviewed well over 5,000 applicants that received free eye exams and glasses, sometimes meeting these people in a coffee shop as they lived in a tent or in their car. We would like to give thanks to Mark Sevigny of Sevigny Eye Care for their important part in this ongoing process and donations to this great and worthy cause. Survived by his devoted wife, Nadine Elliott Tedstone, Sebring; loving sister Carol Bond, MA; sons - Robert B., Jr. (Lisa), William L. (Kathy) all of MA; daughters, Ann Caldwell (Scott), FL and Sandra Malone (Bob), MA; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral service, Friday 4PM in the Morris Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bruce Linhart and Military Honors by the VFW Post 4300. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
