Terrill L. Morris, owner and operator of Morris Funeral Chapel, Sebring, FL. He was born in Sydney, Australia moving to Tampa, FL at 18 months old. A graduate of Boone High School, Orlando FL class of 1962 and then Miami Dade Community College, Miami, FL in Mortuary Science in 1964. He did his apprenticeship work at Carey Hand Funeral Home in Orlando, FL. He married Judith E. Franklin in 1966, they have three daughters, Amy E. Morris Sullivan, Melissa R. Morris Plant and Julie A. Morris Askin. He and Judy bought Warren Funeral Home in Sebring in November 1980 from Mrs. Ruth Warren. Over the past 38 years they have remodeled the funeral home several times, changing the name to Warren-Morris Funeral Home and finally to Morris Funeral Chapel in 1995. Terrill has been very active in the Sebring Community and local club and organizations. He is still very active in Sebring Noon Rotary Club, Sebring Airport Authority, having served as President of the Rotary and is a Past Chairman of the Sebring Airport Authority. Past President of the Sebring Chamber of Commerce; Past board chairman of Sebring Utilities; life member of Sebring Elks Lodge #1529 and life member of Sebring Historical Society, a member of Sebring Masonic Lodge #249, Scottish Rite Bodies, Egypt Shrine Temple and Highlands Shrine Club; Life member of V.F.W. Post #4300, Auxiliary. Terrill and Judy are active members at the First Baptist Church of Sebring where he serves as a deacon. Judy passed away March 6, 2020.
Melissa Morris Plant, is the daughter of Terrill & Judith Morris. She was born in Orlando, FL moving to Sebring in February 1981, she attended Sebring Middle School and graduated from Sebring High School in 1988. She started working for her parents at their funeral home during the summer months going full time January 1988. Melissa is the manager of our funeral home and Preneed Counselor, she loves her job and likes helping people during their time of need. She has two sons, James Michael and Paul Franklin both of her sons were very active in Boy Scouts with Troop #156 in Avon Park, both sons are Life Scouts. James graduated from Sebring High School June 2011 and graduated in October 2012 from Nashville Auto Diesel College to pursue a career as a Diesel Mechanic. He worked for Ring Power (Catapillar) Corp for 9 years. and is now working for Alta Equipment Company in Tampa, FL. Paul is a graduate of Sebring High School in June 2014. He attended Florida Polytechic College and South Florida Community College. He studied gunsmithing online with Sonoran Desert Institute to pursue his passion in restoring and repairing old guns. While going to school he worked full time at Home Depot on the MET Team. Paul now works for American Roofing Central, Inc. in Sebring. Melissa is married to Timothy Plant of Polk county, they live in Sebring and Tim is a truck driver for Sherwin Williams in Winter Haven, FL. Tim has a son, Joshua and four grandchildren, Cason, Marlee, Thomas and Elton all reside Lakeland, FL.
Kelly McGee, a lifelong resident of Highlands County. Employed at Morris Funeral Chapel since 1981. Born in Savannah, GA moved to Sebring after his father, Ralph H. McGee (Sebring HS class of 1943) died suddenly while Kelly was an infant. Kelly's mother Doris McGee along and Kelly's siblings, Valerie, Miles and Maurice relocated to Sebring closer to family. Kelly's mother remarried to Otis Everett. Kelly claims his family is a Railroad version of “a military family”. Ralph worked for the Seaboard Coastline Railroad after serving in WWII and the children were born in different cities. Kelly attended Woodlawn Elementary and Sebring Middle Schools. During the high school years, he attended Park Christian School in Avon Park and graduated from Landmark Baptist High School, in Haines City, FL, a member First Baptist Church where he serves as an usher. Kelly works as a funeral assistant. He is on call 24 hours, works in the office and work services and is licensed for some Pre-Need. He has been involved in several community organizations. He is Past President of the Sebring Jaycees, Past President of Sebring Downtown Breakfast Kiwanis, served 8 years on the City of Sebring Code Enforcement Board, and currently a member of the Sebring Firemen, Inc where he was honored with the Most Valuable Man Award in 2008, the Sebring Sunrise Rotary Club and a volunteer firefighter with the Placid Lakes Volunteer Fire Department.
